Shoot the breeze

Shoot the Breeze의 breeze는 산들바람, 미풍이라는 뜻이죠. 그런데Shoot the Breeze라고 하면 친한 사람들끼리 잡담하다,한담을 나누다 라는 뜻입니다. “ Joe, Do you want to come along to meet Mike and Bob at coffee shop ? We can Shoot the Breeze for an hour or two about that great basketball game last night and relax before we have to study for that big test in economics tomorrow.”

문장에서 알수 있듯이 별로 중요하지 않은 것들에 관해 한가하게 얘기를 나누는 것을Shoot the Breeze라고 합니다.

그리고 Shoot the Breeze의 shoot 대신, bat the breeze 또는 fan the breeze라고 해도 같은 뜻의 idiom입니다.
