Instructions

Write at least 1 - 3 paragraphs (5 sentences in each paragraph / at least 300 characters total) in an essay about any of the following topics. The first paragraph should be the introduction, then write body paragraphs where you give supporting details about your topic, and the last paragraph should be the conclusion where you summarize your ideas and give an opinion or piece of advice. This is a standard format for writing in English.

Beginner

1.) What are some important sites to see in your home country? Give descriptions and details about the places. Include history and other interesting facts to support your ideas.

or

2.) Describe the perfect day. What happens during that day? Where do you go? What do you see? Who are you with? What do you do?

3.) Where is the best country to visit? Explain what that country has and what sites you can see there. Why is it a good place to visit?

or

4.) What is the best movie? Why is it good? Why should people see it? Who is in the movie? What happens in the movie?

 

5.) Who is your hero and why? What has that person done? Give details about that person’s life and write about why you admire that person.

or

6.) Give an introduction about yourself. Where do you work? What are your hobbies? Where are you from? Are you married, single, etc.?

 

7.) Write an essay about “how to _________”. For example, you can write a 3-paragraph essay about “how to fix a car”, “how to cook spaghetti”, or “how to dance salsa”.

Intermediate

8.) Describe the first house in which you lived. What did it look like? What did it smell like? What did it feel like? Give some specific details about the house that you remember.

9.) Describe a memory from your childhood. What happened? Why do you still remember it? Why is it important to you? How did you feel? What did you think?

 

10.) Is the world a better or worse place because of technology? Give reasons to support your opinions. Give examples of modern technology and how it affects humans.

or

11.) Should guns be legal? Give support to your arguments. Talk about how guns affect people and a country’s crime rates.

12.) Which was your favorite birthday or holiday? Tell a story about the past. What happened on that day? Why was it special to you? Who was involved in your special day?

13.) Where do you see yourself in five years? What will you be doing? Where will you live? What will your life be like? What are your goals for the future?

14.) Write a 4-paragraph essay about “how to ________”. For example, “how to learn a language”, “how to be a good person” or “how to be financially responsible”.

Advanced

15.) Explain art. What is it? What does it mean to see something artistic or to be artistic? What are the different types of art? Does everyone view art the same? Give details to support your ideas.

16.) Is war necessary? Write your opinions about wars and how they have affected humans across history. Give specific examples of war situations and provide support for your opinions.

17.) If you were somebody else, who would you be and why? What would your life be like as that other person? How would it be different from your life now? Give details about what would happen to you if you were another person.

18.) Write a 5-paragraph essay about “how to _________”. For example, “how to solve world hunger”, “how to protect the environment” or “how to stop racism”.
